Body Worlds- Olympics and the End of the Exiting Reading Week

February 27, 2006

Yeah went to Body Worlds yesterday it was alright in my opinion…. I mean dont take me wrong but the Plastination process and the careful way of taking every single organ seperately was awesome but after a while I just got bored…It was kinda repeating for me…again and again it was just a man or a women in different poses….thats all well atleast I got to see what the hype was all about…wish there was different stuff….

Oh yeah baby WINTER OLYMPICS! What an amazing journey that was….. I was never planning on watching the winter olympics as to be honest I didnt knwo any winter sports or what their rules were… therefore I didnt care…. but one day I just tuned it in and I couldnt stop watching it…every single day during reading week I atleast watched one event… It was awesome! Atlast I got the Passion for HOCKEY! I never thoguth that would happen to me but it did….Hockey is amazing! Although Canada sucked so bad it was still great… I am the newest Hockey fan in town people! Now its time to watch some Maple Leafs action… I knwo I wont be dissapointed… Then it was curling… Way to go Brad Gushue… The final match kept my eyes without winking the whole time as it was amazingly played…Canada was well trained and well focussed and they did a great job winning the Gold medal…and lastly but not leat Cindy Klassen..5 medals!woooooooooooot! way to go girl…she was such an inspiration for me… I wish I could be part of the Olympics winter or summer but I guess its way too late to start doing a sport and think about Olympics…I missed a great chance…But atleast I have a chance of seeing these wonderful people and get inspired by them…
Oh Oh Oh i forgot womens figure skating…The american Sasha Cohen and Irina the russian what a loss man… I really wanted the russian to win becuase she has gone through alot in life including a severe heart problem and a lot of family problems but well I think she has a bit of false pride…But at the long program the Japanese Shizuka wow what a great show she put! Well I think I have a crush on her….shooooo be quiet guys…!!! Anyways Well done to everybody who won and didnt win… It sure takes alot of courage to do these sports!

Ah well watched the closing ceremony and Iwas truly dissapointed….none of the acts wree impressive….they were just there for the sake of showing something….they didnt connect at all with the olympics…WTF were those 100s of brides doing? it was just worthless…the worst closing ceremony ever..and Canada’s inviting thingy oh god I dont want to talk abotu it….it was just worthless…too much money and good for nothing…I was really impressed by China’s closing ceremony act at the Greece Olympics! It was spectacular…

Anyways reading week is over…damn it….I hate going back to University…it doesnt really inspire me or impress me…I always think ive made a wrong choice but well atleast let me please my parents….i hate doign the routine goign to uni comming back hoem and doing hw and studying fuckign hard for the tests and just feel disspaointed over the un doable test paper…it has just become rouitne and it sucks….

Oh well when will this end?????? lest wait and see
have a great week ahead guys! enjoy and WATCH HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!!

RANG DE BASANTI- PAINT IT YELLOW!

February 22, 2006

Alright guys as this site is changing into a review site I am actually enjoying doing this. Have no regrets. And now for the movie and music of Rang De Basanti. Which means paint it yellow!
Oh god what a amazing and wonderful movie experience I just had a few hours ago it was simply spell bounding. Apart from the movie the music wow interwined with the story it gave the icing of the cake and lead the movie through to the end! It was amazing! Hats off to Rakeysh Om Prakash the director, ARRahman the composer and all the star cast! it was like the correct mixture of all of the above three for the right kind of healthy and tasty food you are always eager to enjoy but comes only once in a while!

I really loved the message of the movie which was IF U DONT LIKE SOMETHING IGNORE IT OR TRY TO MAKE CHANGES…DONT COMPLAIN! from the moment i heard that saying eventhough ive heard it millions of times before this time it struck me well! I liked the way the director blended the old India under the British rule where people are trying to gain independence and the new India which is ruled by corruption where there isnt anythign done to change it! amazing concept and well presented. Indian cinema no matter what language it is needs movies which are less commercial oriented and more educative especially to the youth who are the future! The music helped not only as a commericla or a relaxing element but also to move the story ahead and to give depth to whats going on. It was used very well in the movie! This movie made a huge impact on me. I just loved the way the director said how you should try to set an example… quote:” son: why are you planting this mango tree papa? Father: Only if I plant one now there would be thousands in the future” superb!
Anyways I dont want to reveal anythign of the story fr thsoe who havent watched it yet! But if u are plannign on watching it GO TO THE CINEMAS! PLEASE…. and if u havent thought of wtaching this GET YOUR ASS AND GO WATCH IT!
As the film says: I WILL SURE PAINT IT YELLOW!

The AMAZING HUNT!

February 19, 2006

Hey guys how has your reading week started? Good ? Bad? Boring? Terrible?

Well mine started off pretty well and I am all excited about it and I just want this week to go as slower as possible!!!!! Please lord!!

Well yestedray the U of T Chemical Engineering department organized a leadership training event through the Alumni programme called the leaders of Tomorrow.. I thought you know why not try it and signed up for it….So I left home around 7.45 am and reached U fo T at about 8.45….I had no clue of what was going to happen and I didnt knwo anybody who came therefore I was like a loner sitting and waiting for everythgin to start… The leadership training session was really good… It reminded me of my fucking ESP course but wow the people who did this had a whole new dimension to it… They taught us important leader skills amazingly and practically….they ade act out different situations and made us talk with different people and the problems they face and how you can be a better leader and all of them amazingly… Prof. Susan McCahan u should have come to this traning and see how somethign is taught! seriosuly yesterday I was proved that the way ESP is been taught to us is a piece of shit!

Then later we had free pizza and pop for lunch and I got to talk with some of the first years that never tlak to me…not even smile at me… everybody who came had their own kinda set and we had the 8 people 1st year group! it was great fun watching the olympics and giving weird comments on the atheletes….

After that at 1pm my favourite part of the training started! Guess What? IT WAS THE AMAZING HUNT!!! oh man it was awesome! It was like the amazing race but with more brainy stuff to think about and it was done all throughout downtown Toronto!… We were divided into groups an I had two 3rd year girls in ym group their names were Padma Mahadevan and Emily Ghosh! They rocked! they are amazing people with alot of energy!

So the first part was a short answer thingy which is supposedly done by visint various landmarks in Toronto… Welll yeah it is only supposed to be.. therefore for everythign here somes the saviour! GOOGLE! We finsihed 3/4 of the short answer part… and about half of the crossword part right in sitting in front of the computer therefore we had more time for the rest…
We took the subway went to union station and conquered all the landmarks over there…like the Royal York hotel ( which is an amazing place) CBC center(Woot!) Union station…CIBC center… PATH and many many more… they after that we went to osgoode station and finished up the landmarks near City Hall… on the way we ahd to collect all sorts of thing mentioned in the list.. The fun part was writing a luv letter! awesome awesome! then when thsi wa sover Emily got really tired so we had to slow down for her ..becuase of that we were 4 minutes late for the given to be at the stop… therefore we lost some marks but guess what! WE WERE 2ND! we never expected that…we werent late we would have won oh well it was all fun! we got inetersting prizes for comming 2nd and we were the onyl team with 3 people! others had 4 or more people! WOOT! Emily we dont blame u…u were our superstar and also Padma! and me of course lol!

And finally we ahd a group picture taken and cheered all the way! It was FUN FUN FUN FUN! i there were more of these thigns happening! And above all Thanks to SONIA for orgazing this event and making it a meorable thing! Oh man shes awesome! shes fun nergetic and full fo surprises!
well this week I have so much research to do…homework to do and alot of field work too…
I am planngin to go for the Body worlds exhibition and Watch the awesome movie Rang De Basanti! other stuff are still in the planning!
Hope u guys have a great reading week too! Have fun!

Lord of The Rings!

February 12, 2006

As always for the last few weeks a review of mine of some sort and this time its
LORD OF THE RINGS THE MUSICAL!
Well last Sunday I went to the previews of Lord of The Rings the musical. The main reason I went to see it was becuase it had music by my favourite alltime composer A R RAHMAN! And I should say his western journey is not soon to be forgotton as the music was simply FABULOUS! He has always composed Indian music for over 200 movies and a chinese one which had asian influence in it but this was his first 100% western composition and he nailed it I should say…. The musical had every element of emotions weaved inside the music and I was totally amazed my it! My favourite one was the Helm’s Deep theme which was simply amazing becuase the instruments such as drums and the deep bases made my mind go like I wanted to join the army right away…such a beautiful rhythmic composition.. And the surprise was a bar dance which I never expected to be that way and couldnt beleive ARR can pull it that well! Bravo!!

On the other side….the sets were amazing becuase it was 27 million of something for the production it showed in the way the sets were made…fantastic….the light effects and special effects and some crazy magic tricks, stunts, dancing, acting was marvellous I dont knwo hwo they managed to put all together as I thought if one of the actor’s timing got wrong the whole special effects and everythign comes apart and it would be total chaos….but nothign like that happened and I truly enjoyed this experience… I wish I can go again but ticket prices are little high!

Anyways guys how have u been doing?
Well last week was one of the busiest weeks of mine because I had 2 tests on oneday and other stuff due inbetween which made my week a sleepless one….Alot of late sleeping and early waking and I also skipped whole day wednesday just to study my ass off… My goal was to know every single thing therefore when I see a question on the exam I dont want to freak out thinkign that ive never seen thsi question…. I htink the tests were alright except as always there is a place for stupid mistakes… I always get the question right after I handed the thing in so now my other goal is to be sure of my answer after Ive done them and before I hand them in….
Now next week seems to be a similar scenario too except thsi time its computer programming which is an open book test and ESP which is just a boring worhtless subject…so I am not too worried as I was last week…

Anyways reading week is on the 20th! Yippie! I am planning on going to the Body Worlds exhibit at the Ontario Science Center and also planning on watching the movie Rang De Basanti with my friends…hope to do more than that becuase I want to forget University for a while! Still hunting on summer jobs! anyways have a great week guys!
ENJOY!

Namaste!–Raagapella!

February 5, 2006

Hey guys I dont know what but my blog is becomming an artist review site or something becuase Ive noticed that most of my posts are either just what happened in my life that week or let you guys know about a new artist or movie or anything of that sort!

Now this time I want to introduce to you guys a group named RAAGAPELLA! Have you guessed what the name means? well Raaga means music in my language an “pella” comes from Acapella! Therefore you would have guessed that this a fusion type group and yes it is! They mix Indian songs with the right amount of western songs that sound somewhat the similar and sing as a group in acapella! This group was formed in Stanford University California in the year 2002 and these guys are rocking the state California with their amazing music and performances!

Its like an indian Il Divo you could say. This was started by Jay Pandit, Sudeep Roy, Bobby Ghosh and Mehul Trivedi as part of a cultural show and now its is just huge winning the all state competition in California! Now last year they released their first CD too! And you can listen to some samples form this link: >>>>

Anyways It seems that I am very inspired by this group that I am on my planning stages to start something like this in U of T as well! I really like the idea of fusing Indian songs..the song would contain 75% indian songs but in between it will have a taste of western or any other type of music mix in it! But the fact that it is acapella bothers me as people get bored after a while with acapella songs…. So I hope that I can do something and get some instrumentalists too!
Well dont start thinking big or anything but I am really planning that these days and when next semester starts I would be ready to go with this! Getting the scores is quite difficult too…

anyways tomorrow is a big day as I am going to the Lord of The Rings preview..hopefully it is good and I enjoy it then next week as usual routine stuff nothing special! So await for my Lord of The Rings review too! Have fun!
