GURU- Dream Big!

January 13, 2007

Premier Night
I really wanted to go for the premier of Guru from the time they announced that it was being held right in Toronto. But the ticket prices were way out of my budget that I just thought Ill forget about it and just go and watch the stars arrive for the premier. So finishing my labs at 5 pm on Thursday I straight away went to Elgin Theatre. I never expected to such a large crowd standing outside of the theatre to witness the stars arrive. It was huge! So much media all aorund interviewing various people and it was exciting! The people were literally screaming on top of their voices everytime a car parked infront of the Theatre and asked every vehicle to honk their horns supporting the movie! The premier was suppose to start at 6pm but it was 6.30pm and there was no sign of anythgin taking place. And it was cold as well. But suddenly out of no where this guy appeared in the crowd with a walkie talkie and was announcing that since there wasnt enough people to fill up the theatre they are slashing the ticket prices very low and to buy it from him! I didnt beleive him at first but then I thought this was a chance of a lifetime and quickly bought the tickets! How crazy! Then immediately I was guided to go into the theatre and man Elgin Theatre is just spectacular! It was just a pleasure being in there. Felt so proud. People were crowded all over the place chearing the stars names on and off! But then came the long waiting. Until 9 pm the stars didnt arrive since their plane got delayed from England. I was so irritated until that point! I was literally mad. It was 3 hours waiting! and everybody was complaining about it and was nto sure what was going to take place next. Finally they arrived! The people were going nuts! Like Ive never seen before!Screamign so did I! Aishwarya looked gorgeous, man shes pretty! Wayy too pretty!Stunning! Like an angel walking by waving at everybody. They all were introduced by the Mayor David Miller on to the stage and I saw him! my Guru! A R RAHMAN!. He was so calm and simple and was always smilign at the people. I was screamign so hard that my voice didnt come out after a while. Then finally the movie started!

Movie Experience
I think this is the best movie that came from the Indian movie industry after Rang De Basanti. I dont know if it is a biopic or not but it was made in a way that it felt so real and felt so inspiring. It made you think Dreaming big isnt a bad thing afterall! You will find many failures many forces trying to run you down makign you feel you are doing something wrong. But if you are believing in what you are doing it will become a success so matter what. Its nto a new cocnept. Everybody says believe in your self, have hope work hard. But the way the movie presented it self had a major impact on me than just hearing the work hard chant again and again.

I was never a fan of Abhishek until this movie. He was Fantastic! Hats off to him. Such natural acting talent. Mani Ratnam has coached him well that nothign feels fake. Hes the master of this movie. All the actors are supporting him and theyve done their respective jobs wonderfully! Aishwarya looks charmign in her village looks. Mithun, Madhavan, Vidya have all exceleld in their performance.
Cinematography I dont need to say anythgin about it. It was handled by Rajeev Menon and the village scenes were captured so naturally and appealingly. Last but not least the backbone of this whole movie: Rahman! Ive alreayd done the songs review but the background score was mind blowing. The new song by Sowmya Rao was honey to the ears. It was like the theme of Vidya Balan. Such a great tune. None of the score looked out of place. I just wanted to hear more and more of the music!
On the whole this movie is truly inspiring and regenerates your thoughts and says yes I want to Dream big. Not Big! But BIIGGGGEEER! Keep working hard, hope for the best and youll reach your destiny oen day or another. Well it sort of happened to me too! I always wanted to see my idols oneday..And I got to see them! sicne I never gave hope of nto seeing them! So dream big people! It will happen to you one day without you even knowing!

The Da Vinci Code- A documentary not a movie!

May 21, 2006

Well Well well…. So much for the hype in Canada I htink the only country that gave so much publicity for the movie including Canada AM in CTV which had 2 day special on the movie locations.
But at the end was it worth for that much hype! NOOOOOO not at all!
The movie was so boring! There wasnt any excitement or any thing form that movie. Rather it was like a documentary on the holy grail quest! darn! There were so many incredible twists and turns and tension in the book, the scenes were crafted amazingly in the book but the movie oh boy it was just a waste of money!

First of all I didnt like Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon… There are far better people to fit in hischaracter but not Tom Hanks… I think Tom Hanks was too old.. Didnt have the athleticism and the magic that Robert Langdon had.
I think Audrey was hot and sexy enough to be Sophie Neveu! I think she was the only person that was well portrayed.

The other cast were alright nobody seemed memorable for me. The cinematography lacked the extraordinary feeling the book gave us. Again nothign memorable form that.
The worst thing of all was that all the actors were speking the dialogues straight away form the book which was pretty annoying. It felt like a memorised speech more than acting.

Anyways when I think about the Holy grail and the story regarding Mary Magdelene, For some reason I think she was Jesus’s wife. I dont knoow dont take me wrong all you catholic people but I dont know for soem reason it feels right. Jesus is human too who did extra ordinary things but it doesnt mean he shouldnt marry and have a kid! But i dont knwo about the existing bloodline it feels a bit odd to beleive!

In my relgion which is Hinduism god does do extra ordinayr thigns but at the same time they have every single human qualities possible. Like Lord Shiva has a two sons, one who is what everybody expects to be how a man should be and the other whos a bachelor and who has a abnormal face. But still they are god!

So no matter what qualities we posses we are all different and we are all equal to god!we are all divine one way or another!
Its just that some realise it while others dont!

Well if the Mary Magdelen story true I am very happy…Now ive got to study! I also want to go on a foreign trip! Everybody is flying to their homelands this summer and I feel jealous! lol

Have fun guys!

RANG DE BASANTI- PAINT IT YELLOW!

February 22, 2006

Alright guys as this site is changing into a review site I am actually enjoying doing this. Have no regrets. And now for the movie and music of Rang De Basanti. Which means paint it yellow!
Oh god what a amazing and wonderful movie experience I just had a few hours ago it was simply spell bounding. Apart from the movie the music wow interwined with the story it gave the icing of the cake and lead the movie through to the end! It was amazing! Hats off to Rakeysh Om Prakash the director, ARRahman the composer and all the star cast! it was like the correct mixture of all of the above three for the right kind of healthy and tasty food you are always eager to enjoy but comes only once in a while!

I really loved the message of the movie which was IF U DONT LIKE SOMETHING IGNORE IT OR TRY TO MAKE CHANGES…DONT COMPLAIN! from the moment i heard that saying eventhough ive heard it millions of times before this time it struck me well! I liked the way the director blended the old India under the British rule where people are trying to gain independence and the new India which is ruled by corruption where there isnt anythign done to change it! amazing concept and well presented. Indian cinema no matter what language it is needs movies which are less commercial oriented and more educative especially to the youth who are the future! The music helped not only as a commericla or a relaxing element but also to move the story ahead and to give depth to whats going on. It was used very well in the movie! This movie made a huge impact on me. I just loved the way the director said how you should try to set an example… quote:” son: why are you planting this mango tree papa? Father: Only if I plant one now there would be thousands in the future” superb!
Anyways I dont want to reveal anythign of the story fr thsoe who havent watched it yet! But if u are plannign on watching it GO TO THE CINEMAS! PLEASE…. and if u havent thought of wtaching this GET YOUR ASS AND GO WATCH IT!
As the film says: I WILL SURE PAINT IT YELLOW!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Movie- My thoughts….

November 19, 2005

Alright so I went to watch HP-4 movie for the 7 pm show at STC with my cousins and this is what I thought about the movie…

*They started off well with the Quidditch world cup and I really loved the way they showed the arena and introducing the players and all but they shortened it way too much that you tend to forget whether they even showed the world cup in the movie….I wish that scene was a little bit longer atleast showing some parts and showing the cup presentation and all.

*The importance given to the Tri Wizard tournament tasks were really less… Only the dragon egg task was shown properly but the other ones were quite overshadowed..especially the last task which didnt seem like a task at all except walking and running through the misty maze. They didnt show how the judges sat in front and gave points and all i wished they had all those portrayed becuase it was an international tournament but it didnt feel like that.

*Yule ball sucked. Was expecting more by looking at the movie stills before the movie came out but I dont know for some reason it lacked something.

*Very less importance to all the other charcters except Harry. Was good to see some importance given to brown characters Parvati and Padma Patil.

*Vickor Krum’s acting and Fleur’S qualities explained in the book lacked in the movie and the guy who portrayed Vicktor Krum didnt impress me with his acitng skills. Mad eye moody impressed me. As sophie said Albus irritated me with the rubber band on his beard and his dirty coloured cloak. The other actors were alright…

* The part I truly enjoyed about the movie was after harry and Cedric touch the Tri wizard cup which turned out to be a port key. From that point I really enjoyed the movie with all the anger from Voldermort and the duel between Harry and Voldermort and all the events surrounding it was all good. And the death of Cedric and all the finals elements of the movie were really well done.

Overall a good movie better than the third one. Go watch it guys but dont expect to get the magical fealing, the fun and the eagerness the book gives you.
